Summer temperatures above 40 °C, high humidity on the coast, fine sand and plenty of time by the pool — life in the UAE puts a watch through more than most climates do. The good news: a few easy habits keep any Casio looking and working its best for years.
Keep it out of extreme heat
Never leave your watch on a car dashboard or in a parked car in summer. Very high temperatures can shorten battery life, affect the LCD display on digital watches and age the rubber gaskets that keep water out. Store it indoors, away from direct sunlight.
Clean off sweat and sand
- Wipe the case and strap with a soft, slightly damp cloth after exercise or a hot day.
- For resin straps and 50 m or 100 m watches, rinse in lukewarm fresh water and dry thoroughly.
- Use a soft brush to clear sand from the gaps between bracelet links and around the buttons.
Look after the strap
| Strap | Care tip |
|---|---|
| Resin | Rinse and dry; avoid sunscreen, insect repellent and perfume, which can discolour it. |
| Leather | Keep it dry, let it air out between wears and avoid the pool and sea. |
| Stainless steel | Clean between links with a soft brush; dry fully after contact with salt water. |
After the beach or pool
Only swim with a watch rated at least 50 m — and choose 100 m for the sea or snorkelling (see our water resistance guide). Rinse off salt and chlorine with fresh water afterwards and don’t press the buttons while the watch is wet.
Battery changes
Most of our Casio models run for around 3 years on a battery, and digitals like the W-800H for up to 10. When the time comes, have the battery replaced by a qualified technician who can check and reseal the case so the water resistance is maintained.
Storage
Keep your watch in its box or a soft pouch when you are not wearing it, away from magnets, phones and speakers, and out of humid bathrooms.
